What Paint Colors You Should Be Painting Your Home in 2023

The 2023 Color Trends Forecast is an annual report from the color experts from all the leading paint brands in the world — Benjamin Moore, Behr, Sherwin Williams, Dulux, and others. Every year, color experts worldwide choose the colors they think will rule in the coming seasons.

These industry experts with decades of experience have come up with their top color predictions for 2023. Businesses get their supplies, and designers look to see what colors will be out this season to guide their design process.

Sneak peek for one of the paint companies I mentioned in the article has already released a home decor collection with Etsy that coordinates with their 2023 color trends.

If you’ve ever found yourself browsing the paint racks at your local hardware store, you probably wondered which colors were hot this year and what trends will rule the home interiors in 2023.

Unfortunately, while you can get some color ideas from magazines, books, or visiting your favorite furniture stores, you can never be sure what colors are in and out until the official color forecasts and color of the year announcements are made by leading paint manufacturers around the world.

Color is an essential part of every home. It’s the first thing people notice when they enter your home, so it’s not surprising that we spend so much time trying to find the perfect color combination.

I often consider our homes as a reflection of ourselves. The furniture, the lighting, and even the choice of wall color are some of the essential aspects when making decisions about our living space. We want it to be bright, cozy, welcoming, and modern but also polished and sophisticated.

Color and interior design have always gone hand in hand, whether we’re talking about wallpaper, furniture upholstery, or home décor. Using different color schemes and the thought process behind them is a personal approach to both.

However, color trends have become associated with the latest features and fashions in the marketplace over time. Specific colors have also become symbolic of fashion or interior design accessories that change every year or season.

Whether you’re an avid homeowner interested in home renovations or a professional looking for inspiration, you may want to look at the following color trends for 2023 and see what they might mean to you.

2023 Color Trend from Sherwin-Williams

Sherwin-Williams announced their color of the year as a single paint color picked from their wide range 2023 Color Forecast palette like they did in last year’s color trends.

Redend Point is picked as the color of the year 2023 for Sherwin-Williams experts, who define it as minimal, calming, and intriguing.

Redend Point is a warm blush beige color that works well as a warm color accent when paired with cooler tones. However, it can also be used as a warm neutral in any space in your home.

The color is regarded as not being excessively light or dark, moody or sweet. As a result, it is an ideal mid-tone neutral color for application in a home.

Redend Point has a natural being to create welcoming and warm spaces in any room of your home regardless of the style. This warm pinky beige is a classic color shade that can work with historical architectural elements in a room as well as modern and minimal features.

When we talk about the colors we will see in 2023 color trends; this is the shade I wanted to see.

I gave you a sneak peek at one of these companies in the introduction. Do you remember that?

Yes, you heard me right! Sherwin-Williams is the company that released a home decor collection with Etsy. This collection is coordinated with the color of the 2023 ‘Resend Point’ to make it a reality with their curated selection of accent pieces, accessories, and more.

You should check on this Etsy collection to see the perfect example of how to add new color trends to your home decor without a doubt. This collaboration will make both designers and home enthusiasts follow trends easier.

Benjamin Moore

Benjamin Moore’s color of the year 2023 was selected ‘Raspberry Blush’, which is an unexpected color when we look at 2022 and 2021 color trends that are more toward neutral shades.

However, Raspberry Blush is optimistic, bold, and dynamic color, which Benjamin Moore sees it much like music.

Raspberry Blush is a bright coral with a pink undertone. It is a charismatic color that will stand out in your home. And the statement is entirely up to you, but the best way to use this color is:

  • Add a blushing makeover to the dining area.
  • Make a colorful living room with Raspberry Blush walls and wainscoting.
  • A powder room or en suite painted in this rich coral will add a splash of color to your home.

You need to know that the color experts at Benjamin Moore have selected the following 8 colors as their top color picks for 2023 color trends. And if you’re looking to upgrade your home in the year ahead, we think they are worth taking another look at. But it doesn’t mean you can’t experiment with other colors and trends. In fact, we encourage it!

Jotun

I am not going to lie Jotun is one of my favorite paint companies. I painted my house Jotun’ Reflection’, beautiful, greyish white with a red undertone.

Most hues of the Jotun paint colors have a moody and neutral side, so even if you go with vibrant colors like red, it will look softer on your walls. If this is what you want, you can confidently work with Jotun.

Jotun’s 2023 trend color collection offers a range of expressive and hopeful hues. The collection has three different color palettes total 21 paint colors, making it simple to choose appropriate color combinations that portray a stylish setting and complementary tones.

Curated Living

It’s a confident blend of heritage and innovation that encourages individual creative expression.

Naturally Grounded

These soothing landscape colors are great for giving interiors a farmhouse-chic appearance or bringing a touch of the countryside into the heart of the city.

Serene Presence

The colors are soft, peaceful, and meditative, providing a pared-back spa-like ambiance that aids concentration and keeps you grounded.

Behr

Behr paint company selected their color of the year by looking at their research about what homeowners want in their homes. The study shows that most of us see our homes as an escape from everyday stress.

As a direct response, Behr’s choice was ‘Blank Canvas’, which is a warm white color. White is a well-known color for giving the feeling of positivity, lower stress, relaxation, and calm energy when used in home decor.

Blank Canvas is a perfect warm hue that offers a base for your endless decor and design opportunities. In addition, the color can be paired with most of the trend paint colors in this article.

From the research, Behr Paint Company offered a color palette to improve your overall well-being in the surrounding space. In addition, you can check their 2023 trend color palette if that is what you are looking for in your home.

Dulux’s Trend Color Palette for 2023

Like Jotun, Dulux introduces 3 different concepts for 2023 trend color palettes. The concepts are created by the thought of activities and bring the feelings you need into that room.

Balance

A Balance color palette is the best choice for those who need a relaxed, serene, and calming space in their home. Sometimes we need a regain balance and a sense of peace in our life because there is so much unpredictability and loss of control.

Connect

Our wellness has grown to depend on having a house connected to nature. We no longer need to live in cities or suburbs to work, giving us a new sense of independence that allows us to relocate to rural areas where we can re-establish our connection to nature.

Exterior Paint Color Trends 2023

Some people ask me, as an architect, why you don’t share exterior paint color trends.

Painting interiors are more frequently needed than exterior painting. The most healthy way is to paint interiors in 2 years. However, for exteriors, the number is an average of 5 years.

Also, there is a narrow choice of paint colors for exteriors compared to interiors. These are the main reasons why the paint companies and I announced color trends for interiors every year, not for the exterior.

This year I wanted to share the most popular exterior paint colors, which can be called exterior paint color trends for this year and past years.

The color palettes above display the predicted 2023 color trends. Color is a universal language; although it takes time, each year’s color forecast becomes more evident as we go forward.

Each period carries a type of energy that drives the change in people’s dominant color choices when choosing paints for their homes.

As with any forecast, the samples and color combinations used in the trend illustrations shown here may be replaced by newer, more trendy color themes. But when it comes to interior design, these gurus have an excellent record of predicting popular trends for years and even decades to come.

Numerous trends were defined and illustrated, including bringing nature indoors, with influences from the outside world and rural landscape.

Disagree with what will be trending in 2023? Think different color schemes will dominate the next ten years? Please share your opinion in the comments section or email me, and I’ll be happy to make a new article with your suggestions.
